Didier Bedoya

“It's a historical record of what is happening in our societies, specifically on our borders, told in the first person.”

Colombian artist of Venezuelan roots, Didier Bedoya focuses his work on social and political issues. His research is centered on interpreting his experiences in the areas of the Colombian–Venezuelan border, dealing with situations of illegal trade, fuel smuggling, and migration. Through various techniques including sculpture, engraving, painting, and installation, Bedoya aims to shed light on the impact of these activities on the border. Painting and drawing are prominently featured in his work, where he explores new forms of representation using oil, vehicle lights, and unconventional materials typical of the border areas. The landscape, territory, body, labor, border, and memory are pivotal concepts in Bedoya’s artistic proposals.
