Gabriel Eisenband Gontovnik’s “Páramo de Chingaza-Cundinamarca” (2019)

Gabriel Eisenband Gontnovik, a fine-art photographer hailing from Barranquilla, Colombia, has been taking photographs for over nineteen years. It was his love for nature that led him to landscape photography in 2002, and he has since embarked on numerous journeys throughout Colombia, capturing stunning images of 46 National Parks.

His passion for nature began as a hobby, which he discovered while hiking during his time as a purchasing manager for a family business in Venezuela. Since 2015, Gabriel has been solely focused on capturing the beauty of remote areas in Colombia, working in partnership with the National Parks of Colombia to photograph these remote areas. 

As its name suggests, this breathtaking work of art was taken deep inside Chingaza National Natural Park, on the eastern side of the Andes mountain range, within the Cundinamarca region of Colombia. And it greatly shows Gabriel’s keen eye for detail and unique take on his country’s natural beauty.

Take a look at the exquisite and well-balanced composition of this fine-art photograph: the mountain peak is placed off-center to the left, giving the image a sense of depth and perspective, while the diagonal line created by the mountain range also adds visual interest and movement to the image.

The lighting in this art piece is soft and diffused, with a warm, golden glow that gives the image a tranquil, peaceful feeling. The light also adds depth and dimension to the landscape, highlighting the contours of the mountain range and the rolling hills in the foreground.

Gabriel Eisenband Gontovnik’s “Sabana inundada-Arauca” (2019)

The Flooded Savannah (or “Sabana Inundada”) in the Arauca region of Colombia, near the border with Venezuela, is a large area that experiences frequent flooding due to the overflow of the nearby rivers. The region is characterized by its vast, flat plains and wide open spaces, with a unique landscape that is both beautiful and challenging.

The composition of this fine-art photograph is skillfully executed by Gabriel, with the main focus being the vast expanse of the water, which stretches out as far as the eye can see. The viewer's gaze is immediately drawn to the striking contrast between the water and the land, with the light reflecting off the surface of the water creating an ethereal and otherworldly feel.

Dan Steinhilber’s “Untitled (Lamp)” (2005)

Dan Steinhilber (1972) is a mid-career artist based in Washington, DC, originally from Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He received his BFA from the Institute of Art and Design in Milwaukee, WI and his MFA from American University in Washington, DC. He has exhibited his work in museums, galleries, sculpture parks, and not-for-profit spaces across the United States.
