Fernando Canovas, Argentina, b. 1960

Fernando Cánovas, born in Buenos Aires in 1960, embarked on a remarkable artistic journey that took him from Argentina to the vibrant artistic hub of Paris in 1983. There, he honed his craft at the prestigious School of Fine Arts under the guidance of Pierre Alechinsky. His exceptional talent earned him the distinction of representing the school in various prestigious exhibitions, catapulting him onto the global stage.

During his time in Paris, Cánovas forged a profound artistic relationship with renowned artist Roberto Matta, a mentor and supporter who continued to champion his work over the years. It was within these discussions with Matta that Cánovas found inspiration for his distinctive approach to three-dimensional space in his paintings—a choice that, while not always adhered to, remains an integral part of his artistic identity.

Cánovas' artistic footprint extends across Europe, where his exhibitions have captivated audiences and garnered acclaim. His talent was acknowledged with the prestigious "Prix Fortabat," an accolade recognizing the exceptional contributions of Latin American artists residing in Europe.

Back in Argentina, Jorge Glusberg, a notable figure in the art world, curated and presented Cánovas in various exhibitions at C.A.Y.C and the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires. In 1997, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes inaugurated a sweeping retrospective exhibition, chronicling the preceding thirteen years of Cánovas' prolific work. This landmark exhibition subsequently traveled to esteemed institutions, including the Latin American Memorial Museum in Sao Paolo, Brazil, the City Museum in Valencia, Spain, and the Maison de la Culture de Namur, Belgium, further solidifying Cánovas' international recognition.

Fernando Cánovas' artistic journey serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of nurturing creativity and innovation, qualities that are not only central to the world of art but also resonate deeply within the corporate sphere. His ability to bridge cultures and capture the essence of his artistic evolution showcases the transformative power of collaboration and recognition.
